The European standard HCT780T+Z is a high-strength transformation-induced plastic steel that is coated with hot-dip galvanized or zinc-iron alloy with good corrosion resistance and formability. Its chemical composition is: C maximum 0.18%, Si maximum 0.8%, Mn maximum 2.5%, Cr+Mo maximum 1%, Nb+Ti maximum 0.15%. It has a tensile strength of 780 MPa, a yield strength of 570-720 MPa and an elongation of 10%. The microstructure of this steel consists of hard residual austenite and carbon-free bainite islands dispersed in a soft ferrite matrix. During plastic deformation, austenite is converted to martensite (TRIP effect), giving this steel a higher elongation and an excellent combination of strength and toughness. This steel also exhibits a strong bake hardening effect (BH effect), further improving its crash properties. This steel is suitable for structural parts and reinforcements with complex shapes, such as longitudinal beams, beams, B-pillar reinforcements, sill and bumper reinforcements of automobiles, etc.
